How to pick a niche as an amazon affiliate marketer in 2023

Amazon receives more than 60 thousand orders every hour. It’s a selling machine, all you need to do is place your affiliate links somewhere in process to earn your commission. If you can send a good amount of traffic through your affiliate link to amazon, you can earn decent money.

There are many ways to send traffic to amazon, but here we will talk about SEO and content marketing. For this, you need to pick a niche. Why? Because then you will have more control over keywords targeting and content marketing. A niche with low competition and high search volume will allow you to generate good traffic without scratching your head or sweating too much.

Here are a few questions that you have to answer before picking niche as an amazon affiliate marketer:

Do you have interest in the niche?

If you have interest in this niche, good, but if this is a good niche you can still pick it and build your interest. Think of your own life experiences where you were bored to death with something, but gradually built strong interest.

For me, that’s cricket. When I was in primary school, I hated cricket especially when a match was being broadcasted on sundays.

So my point is if there is low competition and good search volume and enough affiliate programs, just pick it. When you earn a few dollars, you will be more interested in this topic or niche. I am not saying you are greedy, but money attracts things.

Do you have special knowledge or experience in the niche?

Hey, what have you been doing for the last five years? Can that be a good affiliate niche? Of course, because you don’t have to work too hard to produce engaging content for the target market. You can talk about it with more confidence that the niches you are completely new to.

There could be lots of topics around your current or past professions. You can pick a topic of your interest that has potential to make money through affiliate marketing. Now your question would be how to know if a niche has potential in affiliate marketing.

That’s a really important question. So, here is how we can check whether a niche is worth giving a try or not:

How many affiliate programs are there

If there are a few affiliate programs, you should not pick the niche. You can browse many other affiliate marketing platforms to find legit affiliate marketing offers. ShareAsale, clickbank, CJ affiliate, Rakuten Marketing, Flex offers are a few platforms where you can find good affiliate products.

You can simply Google search ‘your niche’ + affiliate programs, and you can find many of them.

How much these programs are giving in commissions

If you are not selling an information product, you can get around 5% commissions. You can check some information products on clickbank that offer huge commissions upto 75%. Along with physical products, you can also promote information based products and earn decent commissions.

Are people already making money with this niche

If people are already making money in this niche, that’s a pretty good sign. You should definitely try this niche. You can steal their ideas and build your own affiliate marketing business around that. It is better to observe and learn than to read and listen.

Is it an underserved niche

If it’s an under-served niche, that’s a really good sign. You can produce a ton of quality content and build your authority in the niche. You can attract lot’s of organic traffic through SEO as well. But how do you know if the niche is under served? You need to search various related keywords on Google to find websites that are coming on the first page. When you look at the content on these sites, you will know how well it’s written or structured. If you think there is low quality content and information presented there is not appropriate, you can categorize the niche as under-served.

How much competition is there?

Competition is good because it proves there is money in the niche. As an affiliate marketing your primary goal is to make as much money as possible with the least amount of effort. You should avoid a niche too saturated unless you are the blue ocean strategy ninja. Do you know the blue ocean strategy? If you don’t by now, it’s better not to try for now at least.

Do you smell money in this niche

Is there money in this niche? You will know that if you do some research in your target niche. There are many ways to find out whether your niche can make money or not. You can take the following steps to know that:

Check what others are saying about the products – you can check customer review sections on amazon to see how people are reactivating to these products, if you are selling any clickbank product, check the gravity. If a product has gravity over 75 that means that’s a really good product.

Check the landing page or product page copy. Do you buy from them? Do you find enough promotional material with these affiliate programs? If you get legit answers to these questions, you can certainly pick that niche.

Besides making money with this niche, do you have any other better reason to choose this niche?

This is the final question, but it’s very important. Why? Because when you start your affiliate marketing journey, we will have to face failures multiple times. If you don’t make any money, you will feel discouraged, you would think about giving. If you face such adversity in your affiliate marketing journey, this question will help you a lot.

If you have a strong reason to keep up with the work despite not earning any commissions, you will not give up and the intensity of your work and quality will always improve. Making money seems like a strong motivation, but it’s not. You need something more concrete and sustainable reasons to keep up with your sites, blogs or wherever channel you wish to create.
